ㅤrule 001ㅤ IC =/= OOC (In Character is not Out of Character). Please keep in mind that a character's reactions and feelings are not the same as what the person behind the character has.

ㅤrule 002ㅤ Be Respectful.
Do not forget the person behind the character does have real feelings and emotions. Please show each other respect. Homophobia, racism, sexism, and the like is not tolerated on an OOC level.

ㅤrule 003ㅤ 21+ Content.
Due to mature themes happening in the FC, and some darker themes, we ask everyone is over 21 in the group. As part of this, consent is key. We will have some characters who are villainous. Ask those you are RPing with if they are okay with anything darker, mature, etc to ensure everyone’s comfort. If someone isn't comfortable, do not force a scene they do not want.

ㅤrule 004ㅤ NSFW Content.
No ERP or the like allowed in say chat or in the main buildings. Keep your naughty times private and in appropriate spaces.

ㅤrule 005ㅤ No Bullying Allowed.
Do not harass, stalk, bully, or anything of that nature to anyone in this server or in the game itself.

Cross-server characters are welcome! Visitors are welcome! If you think someone would be a good fit for our roleplaying group, feel free to reach out to any of the management to let them know. Or refer to the 'About' link on this site for more information. We can assist with an application and interview.

HAVE FUN! We write stories that are meant to make you laugh, cry, and meet great people that just want to play with other like-minded souls. That’s the goal. We are all here to write wonderful stories with wonderful people and make lasting friendships. At the end of the day, it’s just a game. You are more valuable as a person.

DO NOT'S

ㅤA.ㅤ Metagaming.
OOC information used ICly without the possibility of your character ever possibly acquiring that knowledge.

ㅤB.ㅤ Heavy Powergaming.
If the player declares that their character’s own action against another player’s character is successful without giving the other player character the freedom to act on his own prerogative. We recommend using 'attempts' or 'tries' when performing an action. Example: 'Michael attempts to grab Vol'kier's wrist.'

ㅤC.ㅤ Godmodding.
Taking over someone’s character or character action while that player is there and without permission to do so.

ㅤD.ㅤ Mixed Lore from a Different Universe.
If your character is and has skills/abilities from Azeroth, Nirn, Middle Earth, Narnia, or wherever universe apart from FFXIV’s set lore? Then please go play and enjoy rp in those worlds/games. If you’re playing with us, we expect your character to be from FFXIV.

DO'S

ㅤA.ㅤ Lorebending.
While the FC does permit lore bending to an extent, we ask that you at least make it fit into the world of FFXIV as mentioned above.
ㅤB.ㅤ Power Level.
We ask that you be mindful of your character’s strengths and weaknesses. No one should be all powerful. Those that are strong and powerful should never flaunt such power openly in a way that disrupts others RP. In the same breath, being too weak and helpless can also be disruptive. These things only become an issue when it takes away from a scene.
ㅤC.ㅤ Communication.
Talk OOCly with those you wish involved in personal arcs or if you want to join others. This prevents awkward situations that may become misunderstood, or lead to unnecessary drama.
ㅤD.ㅤ Character Growth.
Let characters grow through the struggles. We understand that some players enjoy being strong, using unique powers, etc. All of which is fine. But no character’s powers should be able to solve problems instantly. That takes away the challenge and fun of story building and struggle.
ㅤE.ㅤ Fairness.
Be fair when using powerful gifts or abilities; and be sure to consult with DMs or those leading the story arc or RP event BEFORE you use these skills. Most DMs are pretty cool and flexible, but if they decline.. Respect it. It can easily be excused ICly as ‘your character knew now was not the best time for this skill.’
ㅤF.ㅤ IC actions have IC consequences.
Respect leadership, the FC, and processes ICly. Be mindful of your character’s actions. Your character isn’t the sole main hero of the world and their actions could affect those around them. They could get injured and spend time in the infirmary, and people could react and have an opinion regarding your character's decisions and actions – or worse, we would have to coordinate with you as to how your character should be receiving sanction or punishment if lines are crossed.

ㅤICㅤ House Amalia is an up-and-coming chain of businesses under the Sanctuary name. Seemingly oriented around helping people one way or another. Their clinic helps aid illnesses. Their restaurant and entertainment venue are there to help chip away at the day's stresses.
They also offer support to other adventurers by providing research, and supplies that make each mission a little easier. Their goal is to build a safer, and more united realm.

ㅤOOCㅤ Our Fc is centered around supernatural themes, such as voidsent adventures, Yokai, and other such FF14 Supernatural beings. We are a lore-bending FC but respect the lore. We do investigations and research into the unknown, even taking dangerous relics for safekeeping or investigation.
We offer Sanctuary to outcasts and those who dwell in the shadows. Helping odd and suspicious creatures. While Sanctuary is mostly good, not all that is good is devoid of sin. Thus, we do what must be done, and secure secrets that this star is not yet ready to learn.

ㅤIs this an RP-only FC?ㅤ While our main focus is RP, we do plan to host PVE events and encourage our members to do content together.

ㅤHow active is this FC?ㅤ Our FC has casual activity at the moment due to recruitment. But we are looking to pick up. We are a very new Fc, but we partner with The Forgotten to keep things active. Like most FCs, we have peaks of activity as well as downtimes. We believe that giving DM’s time to recharge and pursue their interests keeps them from burning out. Especially since the events we create are used to create RP bonds and opportunities for character growth, and development. They tend to be pretty detailed and heavy in story. Giving players a chance to feel a part of each story.
The heaviest RP takes place on the weekend with content and pop-up RP on weekdays.

ㅤDo I have to be a supernatural creature?ㅤ Absolutely not! We do our very best to accommodate all who join. As long as you are willing to accept that those around you won’t likely be “normal” you are welcome here. As long as it doesn't cause disruptive IC drama, we would even be willing to welcome a hunter.
If you can play nice with other members, you are welcome.

What Kind of RP can I expect?ㅤ We take part in both light and dark-themed RP Events. Some may be more mature themes and topics from time to time. We do not partake in heavy gore. While we do have a lot of Action-based RP, not everything is won with battle. We like to offer diversity in our RPs, giving each event many ways to win or lose.
Some events will be more social, while others will have a mix of investigation and combat. Our events tend to shift with our members.

ㅤWhat is the FC alignment?ㅤ Sanctuary walks a fine line between good and evil. Some of the characters that you find here may seem kind at first glance. But get to know them and you might discover some darker secrets. The same can be said in reverse. We are a collective of outcasts, creatures, and those with secrets best kept. Our members want to find Sanctuary, and a place where they can be at peace. We tend to be good-natured, and won't go out of our way to harm others unless it's earned. But we aren't exactly heroes either. Sure, we do the right thing. But that can mean murder or violence.

ㅤWhat time Zone is this FC most active?ㅤ We mostly run on EST Timezone so we tend to do activities anywhere from 5 pm - 2am EST (sometimes later); depending on the day and activity. RP events for the time being last 3-4 hours. But we plan to host events that can last 4-6 depending on player interests.

ㅤMy character is from WoW (or some other game) will I be able to use them?ㅤ We are pretty loose on lore and allow bending of lore; however, we do want to keep to the Final Fantasy 14 universe. So, as long as the Character has been properly adapted to fit the World of FF14, we welcome you. However, we will not take any character that has somehow just hopped from one universe to the other. As an example, beings from other games like Blood Elves, or Asura.
Our members prefer FF14 lore-friendly RP.


ㅤWhat kind of “Creatures” are you ok with? What goes too far into lore-breaking?ㅤ We are by no means Lore Heavy/strict. We encourage uniqueness and creativity. So long as it doesn't turn into Godmoding, heavy lore breaking, or just so out there that it becomes unfair to others.
For example, an Ascian would not be accepted, they are pretty much above the gods, and generally considered too powerful. However; if you can sell us on perhaps a Dragon, by showing us balance and respect for such a powerful creature, we would be willing to give you a shot! We just don't want some to be so powerful that nothing phases them. We are looking for players who enjoy struggles, challenges, and growth with their fellow members.

ㅤDo I have to be on the same server to partake in the FC?ㅤ You do not have to join the in-game FC to be a part of Sanctuary. The only thing we require is that you join the discord and CWLS after you are approved. This is so we can keep you updated on FC events and have some sort of communication.


ㅤAm I expected to be at every event? Or be active every day, all the time?ㅤ In short, no. Our number #1 policy is that real life comes first. Things happen, and not everyone has the time to make every single event. Communicate with us.
We do expect reasonable activity, be it in RP or PVE. We are looking to grow a community. So we do expect to see those who join show some initiative to meet existing members and participate in activities. We understand that people can be shy, but we are here to help! So just let us know what we can do to make things easy for you.
If you are inactive for 30 days we will reach out to check on you. Especially if you do not engage in the discord or CWLS at all. If after your first 30 days of joining, if we see zero activity, then we will discuss membership. It's nothing personal, but as stated, we are looking for active members.

First step is sending us a message! From there we will have a brief chat over a few things. Then we will send you a link with some questions.

ㅤB.ㅤ Questionnaire.
This is a questionnaire with several questions about RP, about you, and about your character! After doing this, please send us a message letting us know the questionnaire is complete so we can look it over!

ㅤC.ㅤ IC Interview.
After reviewing the questionnaire, we'll let you know if we have any questions on your answers. From there we will look to schedule an IC interview. During this interview, our characters will ask some things of yours. As well as hire them or bring them in as a member.

ㅤD.ㅤ IC Introduction.
After the IC interview we will work on a 'part two' of said roleplay. Our goal will be a way to introduce you to the rest of the FC in an organic way. Could be as simple as a meeting. Could be a rescue. Could be something story related to your character. We will work with you on this happily!
